You Might Be Eligible for Tax Credits
In 1945 the only category one could qualify for the Disability Tax Credit was if you were “blind”. Today, many more options are available for those living with a disability. You deserve to get what the law entitles you to in the way of disability tax credits if you qualify.
“Your savings could be up to $1,000.00 or more per year, depending on your individual circumstances,” says Linda Chornobay of Enabled Financial Solutions - British Columbia’s firm for people with disabilities.
“There are families who have never heard of the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) and are probably not aware that they can go back ten (10) years or longer,” says Linda. “Some families have only a vague idea of the federal government benefits they may be entitled to and, many of those individuals may have been told they do not qualify.”
Anyone who has suffered with a “marked restriction” in an activity of their daily living for at least 12 months in one the following categories may qualify:
•Vision •Hearing •Speaking •Walking •Elimination •Feeding •Dressing
•Mental Function •Life Sustaining Therapy
There are a surprising number of roadblocks to the process and Linda has helped many navigate them successfully. For instance, DTC claims can be denied for something as simple as technical errors or lack of pertinent information.
And there is more! In addition to the Disability Tax Credit, you may be eligible for the Caregiver Tax Credit and the Medical Expenses Tax Credit depending on your unique situation.
It is definitely worth investigating!
Linda offers a free eligibility assessment and tax review. Once she determines she can begin a process for you, there is a $100 non-refundable retainer plus GST. From there, she and her staff work strictly on a contingency basis.
Do you or your family member qualify? Here are a few questions you need to ask yourself:

- Do you support your family member or relative with a disability?
- Do you have unclaimed childcare, tutoring and education expenses for your child with a disability?
- WERE YOU DENIED your Disability Tax Credit in 2001?
